The Financial Coaching program at the Center for Women matches you with a volunteer financial coach for 3 to 6 months to work on developing goals and increasing your financial literacy skills. There is no cost to participate in the Financial Coaching Program.
Financial Coaching helps women to:
- create a budget
- understand credit (credit scores and how to access free credit reports)
- manage debt
- create a saving plan
- learn how to use financial tools (spreadsheets, software, apps)
- read a paycheck
- learn how to open a bank account
Our financial coaches work at companies such as Schneider Downs, First Commonwealth Bank and Morgan Stanley and come from a variety of professional financial backgrounds, including accounting, financial planning and investments, banking, and corporate and non-profit financial positions (CFOs, controllers, bookkeepers, etc.). These volunteers are highly trained and committed to helping other women achieve financial stability and independence.
You’ll work with your coach for 3-6 months, and each pair determines the frequency of the meetings. A minimum of one face-to-face meeting is required for at least 3 months to participate.
