The first Day at Camp NCJW, held on August 14, was a huge success! The sun was shining, and nearly 150 people came out to support the Center for Women. The event raised over $45,000 for the Center!
The Center for Women would like to thank the event chairs, Lori Guttman, Debbie Levy Green, and Mitchell Letwin for their time and commitment in planning the day. We’d also like to thank the volunteers, staff, and sponsors. A special thanks to sponsors Guttman Energy, Perspectives Inprint, AJ Silberman & Co., Citizens Bank, and UPMC Health Plan.
The Center for Women is excited to partner with Whetstone Workgroup for monthly sessions of our re:work Support Group for women returning to the workforce.
Our re:work Support Group is for women re-entering the workforce after maternity leave, caring for a loved one, going through a divorce, unemployment, and other life transitions. Women can meet others in similar situations and discuss pursuits and challenges as they pursue or consider returning to work. The group will meet at Whetstone Workgroup in Sharpsburg on the first Tuesday of each month from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The group also meets on the third Tuesday of the month at The Center for Women in Squirrel Hill.
Located at 2310 Main St. in Sharpsburg, Whetstone Workgroup is a warm and inviting co-working space that features on-site drop-in daycare. This perk means that women can enjoy maximum productivity knowing their kids are being taken care of down the hall, whether the women are working to launch or grow their own business, polish off a resume, or network with others to find the next career move.
“Partnering with the Center for Women and their re:work program is a natural fit,” remarked Whetstone owner Jessica Strong. “We both believe in helping women succeed and providing the tools to do so, from mentors to childcare.” Childcare is available at an hourly rate for women attending the support group; contact firstname.lastname@example.org to make advance reservations.
